Blueback book review

Do you like the beach? If so this is the book for you. It’s about a boy named Abel Jackson who has lived by the sea his whole life.
Abel becomes a scientist to find out the secrets of the sea. One day he decides to come home to his mother Dora Jackson.
I got a lot out of Tim Winton’s books because he really hooked me on. One of the hidden messages was persist and keep trying. The book was really good except it skipped a lot of years in the book. I give it 10/10 rubber chickens.
Blueback was first published in 1985. Recommended age 9+

  1. Hi Zac,
It sounds a little like Nim’s Island. Can you tell me some of the similarities between the two texts? What was your favourite part of the book?
